Greetings! My name is Robert East, and I am just tickled that you are visiting my site.

Let me share a little bit about myself and the rather wild trip that’s led me to this point.

It was somewhere around 1977 or 1978 that youth and blind ambition drove me to take on the world armed with just a Pentax K-1000 with a couple of lenses accompanied by a used Mamiya C33 medium format camera.

And amazingly, a couple of wonderful and totally unrelated people decided to give the green rookie a try.

A fellow named Arthur was an acquaintance, and hired me to shoot a hand full of pictures to be used in a brochure for Ruth’s Salads. Then a young lady named Lisa hired me to shoot some event work at the Charlotte Coliseum.

Felt like the big time…

The event shoot eventually let to my finding a position as staff photographer for an Amway magazine

and the shoot at Ruth’s Salads led to more and more advertising and table-top product photography.

By the mid 80’s, I was traveling and shooting on the motivational and speakers circuit, and the Pentax had been replaced by a case full of Nikons and Metz flashes.

The Mamiya twin lens was replaced too by Hasselblads and my work was starting to appear in print. Things were happening…

Well, it was never my intention to chronicle my career with photos of celebs,

in fact, there were many that I never had a picture with. Probably the ones that I regret the most are Ronald Reagan and Johnny Cash. Maybe Dolly Parton too.

Most of the pictures are from photo op lines and an assistant grabbed my camera and took the picture. In the case of US presidents, a secret service agent took the photo. These photos have not been cropped or edited. Turns out that the secret service guys did a pretty good job of cropping!

Not presenting this to brag, in fact the road has had it's bumps, including the loss of a spouse due to cancer. But meeting Pat and the move to Atlanta are very positive, and I can say with confidence that I can handle most any situation and stay cool behind the camera.

I would love to impress YOU !!
